Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum
Best known for his Dictionary of the English Language, Johnson spent the first 27 years of his life in the large, imposing house which overlooks Market Square, frequently returning until shortly before his death in 1784.

The Arboretum is just a short drive away from The George and comprises of 150 acres of trees and memorials devoted to the concept of Remembrance. There is now an hourly bus service from Lichfield bus station to the National Memorial Arboretum.
